El Instituto de Ecología, A.C. (INECOL) invita a las personas interesadas de México y del resto del mundo a participar en la Convocatoria para ocupar un puesto de investigador de elevada calidad. Las personas candidatas deberán mostrar un perfil compatible y congruente con la línea que se describe abajo. La revisión de las solicitudes comenzará inmediatamente y continuará hasta que las/os candidatas/os idóneas/os hayan sido identificadas/os y se cierra la convocatoria. La persona elegida se incorporará al grupo de trabajo de la Red de Ecoetología del INECOL, sede en Xalapa, Veracruz, México.

El INECOL es un Centro Público de Investigación financiado por el gobierno federal de México y coordinado por el Consejo Nacional de Ciencia y Tecnología (CONACyT), que realiza investigación y formación de estudiantes en ecología y disciplinas relacionadas (www.inecol.mx). El INECOL tiene su sede central en los municipios de Xalapa y Coatepec, Veracruz, y un Centro Regional en Pátzcuaro, Michoacán. Además, cuenta con tres estaciones de campo: 1) un ecosistema tropical/costero en La Mancha, Veracruz, 2) un bosque de pino en La Michilía y 3) una región desértica en Mapimí; estas dos últimas en Durango. También cuenta con el Jardín Botánico Francisco Javier Clavijero (8 ha) y el Santuario del Bosque de Niebla (30 ha) en Xalapa. Actualmente cuenta con 130 científicos investigadores de tiempo completo, 107 técnicos académicos, 87 administrativos, personal de apoyo, jardinería y servicios generales, más de 100 estudiantes de posgrado y más de 100 colaboradores financiados por proyectos externos. La vida académica del INECOL está organizada en una unidad especializada que presta servicios a la sociedad en temas ambientales y de aprovechamiento sustentable de los recursos naturales más once Redes Académicas (Departamentos): Ambiente y Sustentabilidad, Biodiversidad y Sistemática, Biología Evolutiva, Biología y Conservación de Vertebrados, Diversidad Biológica del Occidente Mexicano, Ecoetología, Ecología Funcional, Estudios Moleculares Avanzados, Interacciones Multitróficas, Manejo Bio-Racional de Plagas y Vectores, y Manejo Biotecnológico de Recursos. INVESTIGADOR EN: BIOLOGÍA, ECOLOGÍA, Y CONSERVACIÓN DE ARTRÓPODOS EN ECOSISTEMAS TERRESTRES.

UN PUESTO DISPONIBLE

Título del Puesto: Investigador Titular A, Perfil I del Estatuto del Personal Académico.

Características del puesto: Tiempo completo por 12 meses. El nombramiento será renovable anualmente en función del rendimiento y desempeño académico. El desempeño de la persona contratada será evaluado anualmente, tanto por su jefe inmediato, como por el cuerpo académico de adscripción y por las autoridades del INECOL, con base en el programa de trabajo y plan de actividades acordado al inicio de su contratación. Al término de tres años consecutivos de trabajo, la persona podrá solicitar su definitividad siguiendo los lineamientos del Estatuto del Personal Académico (EPA disponible en línea: http://normateca.inecol.edu.mx/normateca/) y disposiciones administrativas vigentes. Se espera que la persona contratada, además de cumplir con las expectativas académicas del puesto, demuestre la capacidad de integrarse de manera productiva, armónica y empática con los integrantes del área de adscripción.

Descripción general: La persona seleccionada se integrará a la Red de Ecoetología, donde los tres aspectos más importantes de interés para la investigación son el estudio de los procesos relacionados con la estructura y función de la biodiversidad en ecosistemas naturales y modificados,  el análisis del comportamiento reproductivo de grupos claves en ecosistemas amenazados por la actividad humana, y la evaluación del efecto del cambio climático en la distribución y en las respuestas adaptativas de diferentes grupos de organismos (ver https://www.inecol.mx/inecol/index.php/es/ct-menu-item-1/redes-tematicas/ecoetologia.

La persona seleccionada deberá realizar investigación experimental y/o teórica en los siguientes temas, involucrando a artrópodos terrestres como sistema de estudio tanto en ambientes naturales como antrópicos:

  1. Biología
  2. Ecología
  3. Conservación
  4. Comportamiento
  5. Manejo de recursos
  6. Evolución

 

Responsabilidades

  1. Desarrollar investigación original y publicar los resultados de la misma de acuerdo con lo establecido en el Estatuto del Personal Académico. 
  2. Formular y liderar proyectos de investigación para obtener fondos, tanto para financiar la propia investigación como para contribuir al equipamiento y desarrollo del área de adscripción y del instituto.
  3. Participar en la formación de estudiantes en los programas de Maestría y Doctorado del INECOL mediante la impartición de cursos y dirección de tesis. Asimismo, involucrarse en la formación de estudiantes de licenciatura, servicio social y prácticas profesionales de diferentes instituciones de educación superior con las que el instituto tenga convenios de colaboración.
  4. Participar en actividades de divulgación y difusión de la ciencia del INECOL.
  5. Colaborar con otros investigadores de su red de adscripción y de otras redes e instituciones.

 

Requisitos 

  1. Doctorado en Ciencias Naturales o en áreas afines. 
  2. Una estancia postdoctoral de al menos seis meses sobre la misma línea académica en alguna institución nacional o internacional que no sea la misma institución donde obtuvo el doctorado.
  3. Experiencia en investigación y docencia a nivel posgrado y/o licenciatura.
  4. Autoría de al menos cinco (5) publicaciones científicas en los últimos tres años (al menos tres como primer autor o autor de correspondencia), en revistas científicas indizadas de alta calidad.
  5. Habilidades comprobadas para escribir solicitudes de becas y proyectos.
  6. Experiencia de vida y trabajo en Latinoamérica deseable, pero no esencial.
  7. Se requiere conocimiento de español e inglés (o su disposición para aprenderlos).
  8. Habilidades, disposición y capacidad de contribuir al trabajo en equipos interdisciplinarios.
  9. Compromiso con la ética e integridad científica.
  10. Independencia y liderazgo en su línea de investigación.

ANNOUNCEMENT OF RESEARCH POSITION

The Institute of Ecology, A.C. (INECOL) invites interested people from Mexico and the rest of the world to participate in the Call for a high quality researcher position. Candidates must show a profile that be compatible and consistent with the line described below. The selected person will join to the working group of the Ecoethology Network, at Xalapa, Veracruz, Mexico.

INECOL is a Public Research Center funded by the Mexican federal government and coordinated by the National Council for Science and Technology (CONACyT), which conducts research and trains students in ecology and related disciplines (www.inecol.mx). INECOL has its headquarters in the municipalities of Xalapa and Coatepec, Veracruz, and a Regional Center in Pátzcuaro, Michoacán. RESEARCHER IN: BIOLOGY, ECOLOGY, AND CONSERVATION OF ARTHROPODS IN TERRESTRIAL ECOSYSTEMS.

ONE POSITION AVAILABLE

Position title: Researcher (Investigador Titular A), Profile I of the Academic Staff Statute.

 

Employment Status: Full time for 12 months. The appointment will be renewable annually based on academic performance. The performance of the person hired will be evaluated annually, both by his immediate boss, as well as by the academic body of affiliation and by the authorities of INECOL, based on the work program and plan of activities agreed upon at the beginning of his hiring. At the end of three consecutive years of work, the person may request their definitive status following the guidelines of the Academic Staff Statute (EPA for the acronym in Spanish available online: http://normateca.inecol.edu.mx/normateca/) and current administrative provisions. It is expected that the person hired, in addition to meeting the academic expectations of the position, demonstrates the ability to integrate productively, harmoniously, and empathically with the members of the assigned area.

General description: The selected person will join the Ecoethology Network, where the three most important aspects of interest for research are the study of the processes related to the structure and function of biodiversity in natural and modified ecosystems, the analysis of the reproductive behavior of groups keys in ecosystems threatened by human activity, and the evaluation of the effect of climate change on the distribution and adaptive responses of different groups of organisms (see https://www.inecol.mx/inecol/index.php/es/ct-menu-item-1/thematic-networks/ecoethology).

The selected person must carry out experimental and/or theoretical research on the following topics, involving terrestrial arthropods as a study system in both natural and anthropic environments:

a) Biology

b) Ecology

c) Conservation

d) Behavior

e) Resource management

f) Evolution

 

Responsibilities:

  1. Develop original research and publish its results in accordance with the provisions of the Academic Staff Statute.
  2. Formulate and lead research projects to obtain funds, both to finance the research itself and to contribute to the equipment and development of the assigned area and the institute.
  3. Participate in the training of students in INECOL's Master's and Doctorate programs by teaching courses and supervising thesis. Also, get involved in the training of undergraduate students, social service and professional practices of different higher education institutions with which the institute has collaboration agreements.
  4. Participate in INECOL popular science and outreach activities.
  5. Collaborate with other researchers from their assigned network and from other networks and institutions.

 

Requirements:

  1. Doctorate in Natural Sciences or in related areas.
  2. A postdoctoral stay of at least six months on the same academic line in a national or international institution that is not the same institution where the doctorate was obtained.
  3. Experience in research and teaching at the postgraduate and/or undergraduate level.
  4. Authorship of at least five (5) scientific publications in the last three years (at least three as first author or corresponding author), in high-quality indexed scientific journals.
  5. Proven skills in writing grant and project applications.
  6. Experience living and working in Latin America desirable, but not essential.
  7. Knowledge of Spanish and English (or willingness to learn them) is required.
  8. Skills, willingness and ability to contribute to work in interdisciplinary teams.
  9. Commitment to ethics and scientific integrity.
  10. Independence and leadership in their line of research.
  11. Under equal conditions, the person who demonstrates the greatest emotional intelligence will be hired.

Additionally, a letter written by the candidate will be required, expressing their interest in the position, explaining exactly how their previous experience and training adhere to the job description and expressing their desire to strictly adhere to the principles of collaboration, teamwork, academic networking, and scientific integrity.
