ACTA ZOOLÓGICA MEXICANA
was created in 1955 by a group of scientists from
the Escuela Nacional de Ciencias Biológicas of the
Instituto Politécnico Nacional.
By 1966 it became a publication
of the Museo de Historia Natural de la Ciudad de
México.
In 1984 the Instituto de
Ecología A. C. took over the responsibility of its
edition and named it ACTA ZOOLÓGICA MEXICANA (new
series). From 1984 to 2008, 105 uninterrupted
numbers, available in digital format on the
journal’s homepage (www.inecol.edu.mx/azm),
have been published.
By 2004, to celebrate its 20
years of life, the journal’s format was changed
starting from that point with Volume 20, each volume
containing three numbers per year which appear in
April, August and December.
